Starting Sept. 9th, Volunteer for a Massive Plant Rescue.

FNPS has a massive plant rescue beginning Thursday in central Florida. It’s an amazing 20-acre property on the Lake Wales Ridge. Despite being identified for acquisition and protection over 20 years ago, this amazing intact-sandhill community will be converted to a strip mall beginning in November of this year. Tuesday, Sept. 12th,  9–11 AM  Volunteer work-day CRPSP Visitors Center. We will do work to prepare for our second work day on National Public Lands Day later in the month. Wear suitable clothing, gloves, and bring along shovels, pitch forks, rakes, wheel barrows and additional gardening tools for weeding, trimming. Don’t forget your water and bug spray. Saturday, Sept. 16th, 7:30 to Noon – SOWW Chassahowitzka Cleanup. Sponsored by the Chassahowitzka River Keepers, and lead by Ben Berauer. This will be just one of several Citrus Co cleanup locations, and will be a multi-group effort. The CRK, Homosassa Rotary, Chassahowitzka Community Association, and other groups are invited to join. Effort is managed by Citrus County who requires participants to sign-up and provides supplies and trash removal. Saturday, Sept. 30th – National Public Lands Day, volunteer work at CRPSP. The Americorp team (Krystal and Samantha) are taking the lead for National Public Lands Day. We have two projects in mind. One will be Garden Work at the Visitor Center, the other will be lopping and limbing cedars on the Crystal Cove Trail.
